Behave!

"Today, 350+ million people in the United States will not commit a felony, steal from a store, bully a clerk, punch a cop in the face, fight for his gun, charge at the officer to engage in a life or death struggle and get shot. Being a contributing member of society and abiding by the law is not as hard as some want you to believe."

If we want to look at things to change, we ought to start by teaching people to follow the rules we have in place. That means all people. We should recognize the authority of parents, teachers, police and others in a position to enforce rules and laws. Some in today’s society have had no structure, no guidance and have no regard for others or the laws of our society. If we start there, I guarantee the rest of our problems will disappear." -- David Oliver.

'Wonderful' turnout at Jana Mae's open house

If you haven't stopped yet at Jana Mae's and Mudslingers Cafe in Brooten, you're missing out!

I joked to Jana Zenner, proprietor and manager of Jana Mae's and Mudslingers Cafe, that I wished there was a way to get wonderful "smells" on the Internet. You couldn't help but start thinking about the coming holiday and Christmas season when making a walk through her business.

Zenner reported a "wonderful turnout" of people to her Holiday Open House this morning in downtown Brooten. Holiday specials were found throughout the store, as well as jewelry, handmade crafts, refurbished items and coffee specials at Mudslingers Cafe.

Be sure to bookmark her business website and visit often: http://www.janamaes.com

Women's Expo is a big success

The morning included plenty of visiting and a great deal of commerce taking place.

The sixth annual B-B-E  Fall Women's Expo was a big success today at the elementary gymnasium. Sponsored by B-B-E Community Education, the expo featured 26 area vendors and businesses displaying and selling their product right as Thanksgiving and the Christmas holiday season is approaching.

Here's video from the last hour of the event:

See you at next year's Expo!
